This policy explains what information is collected when you use hitchcalc.com and the choices you have.

What we collect

Calculator inputs stay in your browser. All calculations run on your device. We do not receive or store the numbers you type. We keep two small preferences in your browser’s local storage, your unit system (imperial or metric) and light or dark theme, which never leave your device.

We have no accounts, sign-up or contact forms. If you email us, we receive your email address and message and use them only to reply.

Our hosting provider (Cloudflare) processes standard technical data such as IP address, browser type and requested pages to deliver and protect the site.

Cookies we set

HitchCalc itself does not set tracking or analytics cookies. The only things we store are the two preferences described above, kept in your browser’s local storage.

Advertising and cookies

This site is funded by ads served by Google AdSense. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user’s prior visits to this website or other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the Internet. Google and its partners may also use cookies or similar technologies to measure ad performance and prevent fraud.

If you opt out of personalized ads you will still see ads, but they will be based on the page content rather than your interests.

Your choices in the EEA, UK and Switzerland

Visitors from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland see a consent message from Google’s certified consent management platform (IAB TCF v2.2). No advertising cookies are used for personalization until you choose. You can change your choice at any time with the “Privacy settings” link in the footer.

Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information (US)

Residents of California and other US states with privacy laws can opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information for targeted advertising. Use the “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” link in the footer: when our consent platform is active, it opens an opt-out dialog. You can also enable Global Privacy Control in your browser, which signals the same choice, or turn off personalized ads in Google Ad Settings.

Children

This site is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.
